Light Your Way

By Roderic March, 3/18/22
We recently announced our partnership with Letterboxd, which uses Nanocrowd technology to enhance its movie recommendations.
The social posts welcoming us to the Letterboxd community have been phenomenal. We’re having a great time engaging with the Letterboxd film lovers who are discovering nanogenre collections, and we’ve invited them to try the Nanocrowd app.

Joining the Letterboxd Community

I also joined the Letterboxd community and reviewing my patron stats has been fun and eye-opening. I had a great conversation with Gemma Gracewood, editor-in-chief of Letterboxd Journal. You’ll enjoy the full article, Film Feelings: Using ‘Nanogenres’ to Find Similar Films. We talked about how the Nanocrowd team built technology around viewers’ feelings and reactions to help people find exactly what they’re in the mood to watch. Our nanogenre collections encapsulate what viewers find compelling about a movie or series – it completely changes how you find things to watch. That’s why we’re happy to see so many people using it to find new favorites.

Why Nanogenre Collections

Gemma asked me to share a movie I watched recently, and we talked about Children of Men. It’s a great example of my love for post-apocalyptic thrillers. I found it in the ‘Tense, Action-packed, Excitementnanogenre collection, but of course, that was just one facet of the movie – it’s also in ‘Violence, Raw, Bleak.’ And that’s why people love nanogenre collections because they get a vivid picture of the movie based on viewers’ evocative words.
